The rap industry is dominated by males with a sprinkle of female rap artist who have made a name for themselves in the past decade.
There’s always new and upcoming artist male or female who seem to get a lot of love and attention by music lovers everywhere.Any upcoming artist has a fair chance is the rap game. So that brings me to one of the few female rappers who’s trying to break out into the industry. She goes by the name Lex Dime. Alexis Dominique Jones aka “Lex Dime” was born in Stratford, New Jersey, but was raised in West Philadelphia.
At the age of fifteen, Alexis started out her career as a singer but was later inspired by her cousin to start rapping and has been rapping ever since. Alexis wanted to be a positive female example for her peers.
Dedicating her music to uplift women and staying true to themselves. She decided to use her local fame as a platform to help bring awareness to HIV/AIDS as an educator and an advocate. She has four mixtapes out for distribution and has songs out such as “Paragon Fully Loaded”,“Back to the Future: 80s Baby”, “Str8 Dime”, All four of her mixtapes have been sold out and she is still promoting her music. She released a song this year in January titled “Heavy” and a more recent song titled “LOST Girls” featuring Suzann Christine.
She credits her musical influences to hip hop rap legends such as Salt-N-Pepa, Queen Latifah and her mentor and “big sis” MC Lyte. Lex Dime is still pushing and striving to make a name for herself in this music industry. Its will be just a matter of time before you see and hear her all over your radios and televisions if you haven't already !
